House Rules

Practical information to help you enjoy your stay at The Happinezz Hills Karimunjawa.

Check-in

Check-in is available from 2:00 PM. If you arrive before your room is ready, we are happy to store your luggage free of charge while you explore the island or enjoy our facilities.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served daily from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM in our restaurant Segara Rasa. If you are checking out before breakfast starts, we are happy to prepare a takeaway breakfast box. Please inform the Front Office before 9:00 PM the evening before.

Restaurant & Bar

Our restaurant & Bar Segara Rasa are open daily from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM. The kitchen accepts food orders until 9:00 PM.

Food in the room

To help keep your room free from insects, please be mindful when bringing food into your room. Durian are strictly prohibited inside all guest rooms.

Housekeeping

Our goal is to provide you with a perfectly clean room every day. Your room will be serviced daily between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. To help us reduce water consumption, please hang up towels you wish to reuse. Towels left on the floor will be replaced. To reduce our environmental impact, bed linen is changed every three days during longer stays. Fresh bed linen can be provided daily upon request. If your room does not meet your expectations or if you have any special requests, please let our Front Office know. We will gladly assist you.

Do not disturb

For your privacy, simply hang the Do Not Disturb sign outside your room. Our housekeeping team will not enter your room while the sign is displayed. Please note that rooms displaying the sign until after 2:00 PM cannot be serviced that day.

Quiet hours

To ensure a pleasant stay for all guests, we kindly ask everyone to respect our quiet hours between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Please keep noise to a minimum, especially on balconies, terraces and in the corridors and keep the television volume low after 10:00 PM.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome in the public areas of the hotel. For the safety and security of all guests, visitors entering guest rooms must first register at the Front Office. Overnight visitors are not permitted without prior approval from the hotel and additional charges may apply.

Room key

For your convenience and security, we recommend leaving your room key at the Front Office whenever you leave the hotel. Lost room keys will incur a replacement charge of IDR 200,000.

Safety deposit box

A safety deposit box is available in your room for your valuables. To set your personal code:

  • Open the safe using the default code 2020#.
  • Press the reset button inside the safe until you hear a beep.
  • Enter your own code (3–8 digits), followed by #.
  • Wait for the green light before closing the door.

If you experience any problems, our Front Office will be happy to assist you.

Air conditioning & electricity

To help conserve energy and protect the environment, please switch off the air conditioning, lights and television when leaving your room. For the best cooling performance, please keep doors and windows closed while the air conditioner is operating.

Laundry service

Laundry service is available daily. Please place your laundry in the basket provided in your bathroom and hand it to our staff.

  • Regular service — returned within 24 hours — IDR 30,000 per kg.
  • Express service — returned within 12 hours — IDR 40,000 per kg.

Swimming pool

Our swimming pool is available for all hotel guests. Pool towels are provided by the hotel. Kindly use these towels only within the hotel premises and not for tours or the beach. Please read the pool rules before entering.

Swimming pool rules

  • No lifeguard on duty.
  • Swim at your own risk.
  • The hotel is not responsible for accidents or injuries.
  • Children must always be accompanied by an adult.
  • No diving.
  • No running around the pool.
  • Please shower before entering the pool.
  • Appropriate swimwear is required.
  • Glassware is not permitted in the pool area.
  • Please respect other guests and keep noise to a minimum.

Non-smoking rooms

All guest rooms are strictly non-smoking. Smoking inside the room will result in a cleaning fee of IDR 1,000,000. Guests are welcome to smoke on their private balcony or terrace.

Hotel property

Items such as towels, hairdryers, laundry baskets and other room amenities remain the property of The Happinezz Hills. Missing or damaged items will be charged according to the replacement cost.

Loss & damages

Your room will be inspected upon check-out. Any missing items or damages beyond normal wear and tear may result in additional charges.

Valuables & belongings

Please take good care of your personal belongings during your stay. The hotel cannot accept responsibility for any loss, theft or damage to personal property. For valuable items, we strongly recommend using the safety deposit box in your room.

Our Front Office is happy to store your luggage before check-in or after check-out. Lost & Found items are kept for one week. Unclaimed items may be disposed of after this period.

Children

Children are warmly welcome at The Happinezz Hills. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times, particularly around the swimming pool, balconies and stairways.

Balcony safety

For your safety, please do not sit, stand or climb on balcony railings.

Toilet use

To prevent blockages, please flush toilet paper only. Wet wipes, sanitary products, tissues, cotton buds and other items must be placed in the waste bin provided.

Fire safety

Your safety is our highest priority. In case of fire:

  • Stay calm.
  • Contact the Front Office immediately.
  • Follow the instructions of our staff.
  • Use the nearest emergency exit.

Fire extinguishers are located throughout the hotel.

Pets

Pets are not permitted anywhere on the hotel premises.

Illegal activities

The possession or use of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited. Any illegal activities will be reported immediately to the local authorities. Guests involved in illegal activities may be asked to leave the hotel without refund.

Parking

Parking is available for hotel guests. Vehicles are parked entirely at the owner's risk. The hotel accepts no responsibility for theft or damage.

Medical assistance

Should you require medical assistance, the nearby 24-hour Puskesmas is available. Please contact our Front Office if you need transportation or assistance.

Eco-tourism

Karimunjawa is a unique and protected island paradise. Help us preserve its beauty by:

  • Conserving water.
  • Saving electricity.
  • Reducing single-use plastics.
  • Disposing of waste responsibly.
  • Reusing towels whenever possible.

Together we can protect this beautiful island for future generations.

Respect the local culture

We kindly ask you to respect the local community and environment.

  • Please avoid wearing bikinis or swimwear in town.
  • Swimwear is perfectly acceptable at the beach and swimming pool.
  • Never litter.
  • Do not touch or stand on coral reefs.
  • Please do not disturb or feed marine wildlife.

Island life

Karimunjawa is a small island with limited infrastructure. Occasionally, interruptions to electricity, water supply or internet services may occur due to weather conditions or maintenance beyond our control. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding should this happen.

Check-out time is 12:00 PM (noon). Late check-out may be available upon request, subject to availability and an additional charge.
